De Winter goes Gold with UK award!
Tuesday, December 20, 2011
It's all gone Gold at the de Winter
offices this week! Last week our client Warrington shopping centre
Golden Square won a major industry award honouring it as the most
sustainable centre in the UK.
The BCSC Gold Awards are the leading
accolades within the shopping centre and retail destination
industry that recognise and reward excellence in retail-led
development.
This year's award ceremony saw the
launch of the first ever Gold award for 'Sustainability' to
highlight the best examples of the industry's commitment to the
environment.
With over 800 shopping centres in the
UK, the BCSC judging panel were looking for campaigns that went
above and beyond to make a positive impact to their region. Golden
Square was announced as the clear winner due to it delivering a
broader outlook of 'sustainability' with the judges stating the
centre had gone beyond waste management and recycling delivering
results with employment, transport and the local community.
The de Winter team helped put
together the campaign bid which included some of the major
campaigns the PR team had supported and created throughout the year
including Get Sorted, Go Green and the fantastic Hives campaign
which was shown on TV programme North West Tonight.
The award was presented to a delighted
Ian Cox, Marketing Manager of the Warrington centre, who said: "To
come top in this category is incredibly significant - especially as
this is the first Gold award for 'Sustainability'."
Chris Goddard, Chair of BCSC's Gold Awards Jury and National
Head of Planning, Development & Regeneration at GVA said:
"Winning a BCSC Gold Award is a great accolade in our industry, and
we're delighted to be able to reward Golden Square's fantastic
efforts. We hope other centres across the UK will increasingly
follow its lead in engaging with environmental and social
issues."
This Gold Award comes just two weeks
after the de Winter team picked up two Silver awards at the
Chartered Institute of Public Relations awards for two separate
creative campaigns that engaged with the local community.
What an award winning month De Winter is having - at this rate
we'll have to get a bigger shelf!
